Common and Serious Risks
As with other GLP-1 receptor agonists, the most common side effects are gastrointestinal — nausea, diarrhea, constipation, and vomiting — typically most pronounced during dose titration. The class boxed warning for medullary thyroid carcinoma risk (based on rodent data) applies. Pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, and pregnancy are contraindications shared across the GLP-1 class.
