No Controlled Human Trial
No controlled human trial of SNAP-8 (acetyl octapeptide-3) exists in the medical literature. A related compound, acetyl hexapeptide-8 (marketed as Argireline), has more cosmetic-industry studies behind it, but even that evidence base falls well short of what supports injected Botox.
Regulatory and Legal Status
SNAP-8 is regulated as a cosmetic ingredient in topical products — it doesn't require FDA premarket drug approval the way a therapeutic injectable would, but that also means its efficacy claims haven't been through FDA drug-review scrutiny. It's not a controlled substance or a research-chemical-vendor RUO product in its typical topical form.
